about me

i am going to Jakarta, Indonesia, through the YES program with AFS. the YES program is a scholarship program designed to build bridges between america and muslim countries. it specifically targets 7 countries with significant muslim populations. these countries are: Ghana, Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and India. about 50 high school students from all around america applied for this scholarship, and it was awarded to 35 of them. i feel incredibly grateful to have been one of these 35. this is the story of my preparation, experiences, and possibly life after this amazing year.
